Occupational Therapist(Full-Time)
Job Title: Occupational Therapist
Location: Central Lake County, IL
Pay Range: $48–$55/hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire
Student Population: Grades K–8
Why This Job?
Join a collaborative and close-knit school district where your role as an Occupational Therapist is valued, supported, and impactful. With all school sites conveniently located near each other, you’ll enjoy minimal travel and the flexibility to focus on one school at a time. This district emphasizes early intervention, so you'll spend the majority of your time working with K–2 students—building foundational skills and creating meaningful change from the start.
Beyond the classroom, the culture is fun and inclusive. Staff regularly organize social events like movie nights and happy hours, making it easy to form real connections with your colleagues. It's a place where you’ll feel both professionally supported and personally welcomed.
What You'll Be Doing
-
Provide direct and consultative OT services to K–8 students, focusing heavily on early developmental skills in K–2.
-
Address key areas such as:
-
Fine motor skill development
-
Sensory processing and integration
-
Emotional regulation and perception
-
Activities of daily living (ADLs)
-
Executive functioning and postural control
-
Use of assistive technology and equipment
Collaborate proactively with general education teachers to embed OT practices (e.g., writing tasks that develop fine motor skills).
Develop and maintain IEP and 504 goals, leaning toward a 504-based service model to reduce paperwork while maximizing impact.
Help implement Tier 1 strategies like sensory corners or classroom accommodations to support all learners and reduce long-term caseloads.
Optional: Support the crisis response team or participate in CPI training if interested.
Utilize a dynamic OT room with active sensory spaces—flexible enough to go from table work to obstacle courses!
What You’ll Need on Day One
-
Experience working with elementary-aged students, especially in areas such as fine motor development, sensory needs, and executive function.
-
Familiarity with writing IEPs and/or 504 plans.
-
Willingness to collaborate with a wide range of educators and support staff.
-
Comfort working in a flexible, proactive model that emphasizes early intervention.
Your First Day
You'll receive full access to the building and systems, an orientation to your classroom and the broader school layout, and a walk-through of your caseload and IEPs. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet students and families before the school year begins, allowing you to build trust and familiarity right away.
School Culture
This is a “work hard, play hard” kind of environment. Teachers and support staff truly enjoy each other's company and make an effort to build relationships outside of school hours. Collaboration is strong, and support is consistent—this district believes in celebrating wins and solving challenges together.
