Why Join Our Team?

Focused K–2 Instruction in a Self-Contained Setting:
Work in your own classroom serving a small group of K-1 students from the general education population with mild to moderate needs. You’ll have the opportunity to deliver personalized instruction in both language arts and math, truly impacting early academic growth.

Collaborative & Supportive School Culture:
Join a team that not only works hard together—but enjoys each other’s company outside of school. Staff frequently gather for happy hours, movie nights, and other events, creating a close-knit and welcoming environment.

Meaningful Student Impact:
The position focuses solely on K–1 students in a self-contained classroom with opportunities to integrate into general education settings. This is your chance to shape foundational learning for students in a nurturing and supportive school.

About Us:

We are a student-centered school committed to collaboration, inclusivity, and creating strong relationships between staff, students, and families. With an emphasis on community—both in and out of the classroom—we aim to foster professional excellence while maintaining a fun, relaxed, and supportive culture.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to lead a self-contained classroom for K–1 students. This classroom supports students with varying ASD and developmental delay. Students spend most of their day in your classroom, with some participating in general education classes throughout the day.

Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are preferred due to the Hispanic student population, but English-only candidates committed to student success are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted instruction in language arts and math in a small, self-contained classroom setting.

  • Support and implement IEP goals tailored to each student’s needs.

  • Collaborate with general education staff to coordinate inclusion opportunities.

  • Track and report student progress through ongoing documentation and parent communication.

  • Participate in school-wide responsibilities such as arrival/dismissal supervision, hallway duties, and occasional events.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience teaching in a self-contained special education classroom, particularly with students with ASD and developmental delay.

  • Ability to manage a blended classroom of students with varying needs.

  • Strong communication skills with students, families, and staff.

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.

  • Passion for early childhood and primary education.

What You Can Expect on Day One:

  • Onboarding & Setup: Access to the facility, school systems, and teaching tools.

  • Classroom Orientation: Tour of the classroom and school, including student routines and shared spaces.

  • Caseload Review: Review IEPs to start planning and setting student goals.

  • Family Introductions: Meet families prior to the start of the school year to build connections and set expectations.

A Typical Day in This Role:

  • Teach three 1.5-hour instructional blocks focused on language arts and math.

  • Serve a caseload of approximately 5-7 students (final caseload pending assessments, maximum of 10 allowed in class).

  • Collaborate with support staff and general education teams for inclusion support.

  • Participate in planning periods and student supervision as needed.

  • Enjoy a duty-free 30-minute lunch and 70 minutes of daily planning time.

School Culture & Environment:

  • Tight-Knit Staff: Friendly, inclusive, and team-oriented.

  • Socially Connected: Staff enjoy off-campus gatherings and regularly plan fun outings together.

  • Student-First Mindset: Everyone works together to create a safe, welcoming, and effective learning space.

Additional Details:

  • Parking: Ample staff parking available.

  • Dress Code: Professional, comfortable attire appropriate for working with young students.

  • Start Date: Fall 2025 (2025–2026 school year)
