Social Worker(Full-Time)

  • Location: Antioch , Illinois
  • Type: Contract
  • Job #2319

School Social Worker (Contract Position – 2025–2026 School Year)
Location: Lake Villa Area, IL
Pay: $49–$52/hour
Contract Length: August 2025 – May 2026

Why This Position?

This is an excellent opportunity for a Social Worker seeking a small-school, low-crisis environment where the focus is on developing functional independence and social-emotional growth. You’ll work directly with an experienced School Social Worker in the building, and have the option (not required) to participate in a district-wide mentorship program. This role serves younger-aged students and is heavily focused on positive relationship-building, SEL development, and collaborative support. The small caseload and supportive setting allow for meaningful impact without the overwhelming volume of crisis response often seen in larger schools.

What Skills Must This Individual Possess on Day One?

  • Comfort and experience working with students who have cognitive delays

  • Strong skills in social-emotional support, functional social skills instruction, behavior intervention, and family engagement

  • Ability to collaborate on and contribute to IEPs and develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

Onboarding Process

All new hires begin with district onboarding from 8/6/25 to 8/8/25. During this time, you’ll:

  • Get trained on Embrace (IEP platform) and the IEP process

  • Review district procedures, including ALICE safety protocols

  • Get familiar with school policies, your caseload, and build initial connections with the team

Typical Week

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with social-emotional and behavioral needs

  • Deliver functional social skills instruction and implement behavior interventions

  • Observe and evaluate student behavior in classroom settings

  • Develop BIPs and support IEP meetings with role-specific contributions

  • Primary caseload includes 15 students in the LOP program with cognitive delays

School Culture

This school embraces a whole-child development approach, promoting positive behavior and proactive student support without dedicated special education classrooms. It’s known for its transformative STEM learning experiences and provides a nurturing environment that prioritizes student growth and staff collaboration.
